Hinchinbrook National Park on Hinchinbrook Island offers isolation and experience of wilderness. Hinchinbrook is one of Australia’s most impressive and rugged continental islands and the challenging Thorsborne Trail is one of the world’s most popular wilderness walks. Hinchinbrook Channel, which separates the island from the mainland, is renowned for its variety of mangroves and its dugong population. On the island, take a short walk from Macushla to Cape Richards (Resort), to North Shepherd Bay or South Shepherd Bay. Trek along the remote east coast (Thorsborne Trail) for four to seven days or explore the island’s coastline by sea kayak, bush camping along the way.
