The Goldfield Track follows a historic path for 19 kilometres through the rainforest of Wooroonooran National Park, linking The Boulders Scenic Reserve (Babinda) and Goldsborough Valley.
The trail initially follows Babinda Creek through lowland rainforest and after one kilometre enters World Heritage listed Wooroonooran National Park. It begins to ascend, crossing numerous mountain creeks with enormous king ferns and rare orania palms, and eventually crosses the saddle between Queensland’s highest peaks, Bartle Frere and Bellenden Ker.
The trail then descends, steeply at times, follows a ridgeline and, after crossing several creeks, reaches a causeway over the East Mulgrave River, 11 kilometres from the start. There is a bush camping area here, which must be pre-booked. From the causeway an eight kilometre relatively flat, former logging track follows the river to the Goldsborough Valley camping area
